Kovalam actually means the grove of coconut trees and the name of the place is righty kept as Kovalam because it is famous for its beaches which are full of coconut trees. There are three major beaches in Kovalam and is called as Beach Town which comes under Trivandrum city.
1. Lighthouse Beach
It is the southernmost beach of the place and is very much liked by tourists. The name of the beach is Light House Beach because of the old Vizhinjam Lighthouse which located there on rocky promontory. At night, the beams of the light house renders with an unearthly charm which is very much liked by tourists. They prefer to spent time on beaches at night to experience the amazing lighting there.
2. Hawah Beach
Hawah Beach is also known as Eve’s beach is the beach number two of Kovalam. This beach is a much crowded place in the early day time by fishermen and they hunt fishes to earn their livelihood. With a high rock promontory and a calm bay of blue waters, this beach paradise creates a unique aquarelle on moonlit nights.
3. Samudra Beach
This beach is not much famous for tourists and local fishermen use to trade here.
